Dear Members,

As we approach the end of 2023, we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the achievements and challenges of the past year and share our plans and goals for the next one. We are proud of the progress we have made as an association and an industry, and we are grateful for your continued support and involvement.

Some of the highlights of 2023 include:

  • Securing funding for the 3rd year of industry-specific programmes with our partners CAPES and WITS, which provide valuable training and development opportunities for our members and staff.
  • Hosting a successful conference in Cape Town in March, with over 150 participants from across the country and the region, who shared insights and best practices on various topics related to recruitment and staffing.
  • Improving the CPD compliance for the individual professional body by more than 50% demonstrates our commitment to maintaining high standards and ethical practices in our industry.
  • Achieving a green status for the PB data upload to SAQA for the 5th year in a row confirms our alignment with the national qualifications framework and our recognition as a professional body.
  • We welcomed a week-long board visit from the World Employment Confederation (WEC), the global voice of the employment industry, who praised our achievements and offered their support and guidance for our future endeavours.
  • Conducting bi-laterals with key stakeholders, such as government, labour, education, and media, to demonstrate the global support of our association and industry, and to advocate for our interests and concerns.
  • We learnt from the best practices and benchmarking from the WEC and other global professional bodies, who shared their experiences and challenges in dealing with the changing dynamics and demands of the labour market.

Looking ahead to 2024, we have some exciting plans and initiatives that we hope will benefit our members and our industry, such as:

  • Launching the APSO Placement Share Portal on 1st February 2024 will enable our members to collaborate and share placements with each other, increasing their revenue and reach in the market.
  • Organising another recruitment conference in Cape Town on 7th March 2024, which will feature local and international speakers, workshops, and networking opportunities for our members and partners.
  • We are applying for funding for the industry programmes (CAPES WITS) for 2024, which will allow us to continue offering high-quality and relevant training and development programmes for our members and staff.
  • Bidding for the WEC Global Conference for 2025, which will be a great opportunity to showcase our industry and our association to the world, and to attract more visitors and investors to our country.
  • Launching the APSO Recruitment & Staffing Awards Programme, which will recognise and celebrate the businesses and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to our industry and our association.
  • Launching the Business Partner Programme, which will add value to our members with additional tools and services, and discounted member rates, from our trusted and vetted business partners.

We also have some research projects planned for 2024, such as in-depth member research, which will help us understand your needs, expectations, and satisfaction levels, and improve our service delivery and value proposition.

We hope you are as excited as we are about these plans and initiatives, and we look forward to your participation and feedback. We also welcome any suggestions or ideas that you may have to improve our association and our industry.

We wish you a happy and prosperous 2024, and we thank you for being part of the APSO family.

Sincerely,

The APSO Team
