APSO Connect Session: Candidate Liability Clauses
Date: 2025-06-11
Time: 13:00
Duration: 1 Hour
CPD Points: 2

A signed offer, a confirmed start date and then the candidate pulls out. It's a scenario every recruiter dreads, often leaving agencies to deal with disappointed clients, lost revenue, and strained relationships. But can recruitment agencies hold candidates accountable when they renege on an offer?

This in-depth, practical webinar is designed specifically for recruitment agencies navigating the legal and ethical grey areas of candidate liability clauses.

We’ll break down the essentials:

  • Are candidate liability clauses legally enforceable in South Africa?
  • What does the APSO Code of Ethics say about holding candidates financially or contractually liable?
  • How can these clauses be used effectively, without damaging your agency’s brand or breaching ethical standards?

Beyond the legal framework, we’ll share proactive strategies to reduce the risk of candidate reneging in the first place, including expectation-setting, stronger communication touchpoints, and smarter contract structuring.

If you've ever had a placement fall through at the eleventh hour, this session will give you the clarity, confidence, and tools to handle it better next time and help you build more resilient, legally sound recruitment processes.
